Jaiswal Reaches 2,000 Runs in IPL

Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India] - On April 28, Yashasvi Jaiswal, the opener for Rajasthan Royals (RR), marked a significant achievement by scoring his 2,000th run in the Indian Premier League (IPL), becoming the fifth player in the franchise's history to do so.


This milestone was reached during a match against Gujarat Titans (GT) in Jaipur, where Jaiswal formed a formidable 166-run opening partnership with Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He finished the game with an impressive score of 70 not out off just 40 deliveries, hitting nine fours and two sixes, and maintaining a strike rate of 175.00.


As of now, Jaiswal has played 63 matches and batted in 62 innings, accumulating a total of 2,033 runs with an average of 34.45 and a strike rate of 151.04. His record includes two centuries and 14 fifties, with his highest score being 124.


In the current season, he stands as the fourth-highest run-scorer and the leading run-scorer for RR, having amassed 426 runs in 10 innings at an average of 47.33 and a strike rate exceeding 152, including five half-centuries. His best performance this season is 75 runs.


Jaiswal's standout performance came in 2023, where he scored 625 runs across 14 matches, averaging 48.07 with a strike rate above 163, featuring one century and five fifties. He was the fifth-highest run-scorer that season and RR's top batter.


In the all-time rankings for Rajasthan Royals, Jaiswal is currently the fifth-highest run-scorer, trailing behind Sanju Samson, who leads with 4,158 runs from 163 matches and 148 innings, averaging 31.98 with a strike rate of 140.71, including two centuries and 26 fifties, with a best score of 119.


In the match against GT, RR opted to bowl first, with notable contributions from skipper Shubman Gill, who scored 84 runs off 50 balls, and Jos Buttler, who added 50 runs from 26 balls. GT finished their innings at 209/4 in 20 overs, with Maheesh Theekshana being RR's standout bowler, taking 2 wickets for 35 runs.


During the chase, Jaiswal's 70 not out and Suryavanshi's explosive 101 off 38 balls, which included seven fours and 11 sixes, propelled RR to victory with a swift 166-run partnership in just 71 balls. Riyan Parag also contributed with a quick 32 not out off 15 balls, leading RR to a win in 15.5 overs.


Currently, RR is positioned eighth in the standings with three wins and seven losses, totaling six points, while GT holds the third spot with six wins and three losses, accumulating 12 points.
